Confrontations at home and in the workplace occur every day, with many people learning the wrong lessons from them. For example, rather than concluding about a trying coworker that “Jim is just a jerk,” a better lesson might be, “Jim is the sandpaper God is using to finish me to perfection.” Whenever there is blame and finger-pointing, rather than inner reflection and a search for solutions, the wrong lessons are being carried forward.
Sometimes a narrow perspective causes the wrong lesson to be advanced.
Whenever an event causes us to shrink back and be afraid or feel disempowered, chances are we are taking the wrong lesson forward. The mind is constantly forming conclusions, and in a world saturated with negative messages, it is too easy to stamp a lesson with a message of fear.
Jesus did not let fear dictate his activities. He took the consistent message of God’s love as being the right lesson to take forward. He declared love to be the foundation of all he stood for rather than fear, and triumph, not failure.
What could be the right lesson to take forward from your most recent setback?

P.S. I have asked the team to create a Holiday Special for the Path Elements Assessment. You can check it out here. I created this tool to help improve relationships and build respect for differences. I have ‘learned many lessons’ as a result of understanding the Elements in both friends and strangers. Our customers and members can access this special from the website or through their member account.
